Petra and the Beast
Opened in 2018, Petra and the Beast received the nomination for Best New Restaurant. Chef Misti Norris started the eatery as a pop-up restaurant and has since found great success with her permanent spot in East Dallas. Located in a converted gas station from the 1930s, Petra and the Beast is casual with an industrial edge. Served in a counter-service style, the menu highlights local ingredients to create an array of house-made pasta and other small plates.
Self-described as a “contemporary French brasserie”, Bullion was recognized for its pastry chef, Ricardo Sanchez. Sleek and modern with bright gold accents, this downtown eatery serves a full menu of classic and innovative French fare. The pastries hold a top spot on the menu with everything from an appetizer of gougéres au gruyère to the dainty mille-feuille dessert.
Located in the Bishop Arts District, Lucia received honors in the Best Chef-Southwest category. Chef David Uygur has created a welcoming and rustic dining space in this historic 1920s-era building. The food showcases rich Italian flavors with house specialties such as gnocchi alla romana, casarecce and duck leg confit.
