Established in 2012, Ascension Coffee is an Australian-style coffeehouse serving simple cafe food in a laid-back atmosphere. Founder Russell Hayward grew up in Sydney, Australia where mealtime meant sharing fresh food with family and friends. After working in advertising design and rock & roll for more than thirty years, he moved to Dallas to start another career in the restaurant industry. At Ascension, the kitchen is run by Chef Lily Mondale, and nearly all of the menu items are created from scratch. Coffees include cappuccinos, espressos, and 9 spice chai lattes, and all pair well with a slice of Saigon cinnamon chocolate cake.


Found inside the Statler Hotel, Overeasy is a retro-inspired diner that has been called one of the “30 Dallas Coffee Shops You Should Go to at Least Once in Your Life by Narcity” Its fun atmosphere makes it easy to wake up, and the dining area comes complete with counter seating and group-friendly booths that offer stunning views of downtown. The menu includes mochas, cappuccinos, and Americanos, and they can be enjoyed with the buttermilk biscuits that are a customer favorite.

Fiction Coffee

At Fiction Coffee, the baristas follow specialty coffee and third wave coffee standards to make everyone’s visit an exceptional one. The shop offers a laid-back setting that’s perfect for studying or holding business meetings, and it features dim lighting and exposed brick. The menu includes matcha lattes, macchiatos, and toddy-style iced coffees, along with delicious breakfast tacos.
