Begin Your Next Online Adventure with the Dallas Public Library!

Libraries are rich sources of entertainment, education, and resources. The Dallas Public Library is no exception. In order to get a library card to check out digital content, you simply e-mail them at librarycustomerservice@dallaslibrary.org and request a card. You then attach a photo or scan your photo ID and proof of residence. They will e-mail your card number and password to you at no cost! It’s that easy to gain access to the thousands of online resources that the library provides from the comforts of your apartment here in Dallas.

Download Media from Your Living Room

The Dallas Public Library offers tons of downloadable materials through several different services. Enjoy e-books, audiobooks, comics and more through the Overdrive service, which supports Kindle format. Hoopla provides access to music albums, movies, television series, and can be used in conjunction with Chromecast, Roku, Android TV, Apple TV, and Fire TV.  Axis360, EBSCO eBooks, ProQuest, Flipster, and Pressreader are also accessible with your library card for access to thousands of entertainment materials.

Events To Participate In

At the library’s website, you can also view their events calendar, which is currently filled with online programs and classes. From Children’s Storytime to beginning piano and keyboard courses, you will be able to find something to expand your knowledge most every day. The events are very diverse as well. One week you may try your hand at Beginning Guitar and the next week dive into Genealogy Research. Also scheduled are games, book clubs, interactive social events, and more!

Get Some Help from #DPLWhatsNext

If you’re not sure what you want to read, listen to, or watch next, #DPLWhatsNext is a feature provided where a personal librarian will help to locate your next discovery. The DPL staff compiles a list of materials monthly that will be sure to have something that will interest you. You can submit a request for title recommendations or simply browse the librarians’ lists. The website features the personal librarians and their favorite categories!
